Serena Williams’ Qai Qai illustrated book: “Believe in yourself”

Serena Williams is ready to go with her new life beyond the tennis court. After a career of great victories and broken records, the former US star (which she who knows, maybe she could reconsider in view of Melbourne…) is ready with a new adventure.

In fact, adventure is not a word chosen at random. Serena announced on Twitter the release of The Adventures of Qai Qai, an illustrated book that aims to show young readers the power to believe in themselves and in their best friend.

Qai Qai is a doll that comes to life to help the book’s protagonist overcome her stage anxiety and fulfill her dreams as a dancer.

Serena Williams and the retirement

Serena Williams has never talked about retirement.

She has always used a different term: evolution. After the splendid adventure on the concrete of Flushing Meadows, seasoned among other things by the victory against the world number two Anett Kontaveit, the twenty-three time Grand Slam champion has decided to hang up the racket.

Or rather, to stop playing and always leave a door open when returning. During the Jimmy Fallon Night Show the US champion did not bar the door to a hypothetical return, exploiting, among other things, the parallelism with Tom Brady.

“What I mean is that it has given birth to a fantastic trend. Anyway, there are a lot of things that I have not been able to do and that I would like to do in these years, but I am not going to relax, I just want to start enjoying the things.”

A few days later, Serena explained her words during another television interview: “What I meant is that you never know. A few days ago I talked to Tom Brady, about his story. What he did and how he did it was very beautiful.

I think everyone will agree with me. Tennis has given me a lot and I don’t see myself far from this sport in the future. I would like to do something. I don’t know what yet, but I know it’s my sport and I’d really love to stay connected to this world in the future.

It has simply been a light in my life and I want to continue to hold it tight.”
