Montfort Hospital providing book of condolences for Gisèle Lalonde

Montfort Hospital says it will offer a book of condolences for the late Gisèle Lalonde, “a great lady of the Francophonie and the leading figure in the SOS Montfort cause,” who passed away on July 27.

She was 89.

As of 10 a.m. Saturday, the book will be placed under a large tent next to the Monument de la Francophonie on the hospital grounds.

The book will be available until 4 p.m.

A floral wreath is already in place at the site.

Those wishing to sign the book will also be able to use parking lot M, located next to the monument, in front of the hospital. Parking will be free on Saturday between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

COVID-19 sanitary measures will be in place: Masks and social distancing will be encouraged, and people will be required to use hand sanitizer before signing the book.

The book of condolences will then be given to Mrs. Lalonde’s family.

Lalonde’s funeral is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 4, at Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes Church, 435 Montreal Rd., in Vanier, with family receiving friends and relatives from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

The funeral ceremony will follow at 10:30 a.m.
