Glitz And Glamour At [email protected] Alumni Homecoming Dinner

There was pomp, glitz and glamour at Makerere University Freedom Square as the alumni joined students, partners and guests at the much-anticipated alumni dinner.

The dinner Organised as part of Makerere University’s centennial celebrations attracted some of the creme de la creme of the society that passed through the gates of the great institution like Dr. Maggie Kigozi, Dr Ezra Suruma New Vision CEO Don Wanyama and the Vice Chancellorr Prof. Nawangwe who said Makerere University was at some point the home of the Uganda Museum.

Though founded in 1908 and housed then at Fort Lugard in (Old K’la) the museum was later moved into an old classroom block at Makerere & later officially opened in July 1942.

The dinner held last evening Friday July 22, 2022 brought together former Makerereans from different spheres to share and create new memories as they wined and dined.

The dinner which centered on the theme ‘Through These Gates’, also aimed at celebrating great personalities from different professions that have gone through the gates of Makerere some of whom were in attendance

The alumni were given the joy and pride to remember its gates as they chatted a forward in making improvements at the University that made them who they are.

Makerere University will celebrate a hundred years of existence in October this year (2022) and has lined up a series of pre-events ahead of the main centennial celebrations and the alumni home coming dinner being one of those.

The home coming dinner was proudly sponsored by Nile breweries, MTN, Stanbic Bank, Vision group, ABSA Bank, Centenary Bank among others.
