Emmerdale announces special 50th anniversary book
Emmerdale is set to release a brand new book to mark the soap’s 50th anniversary.
Later this year, the show will hit half a century on our screens, with ITV gearing up for the big occasion – though what exactly they have in store remains under wraps.
However, ahead of the celebrations, a new book called 50 Years of Emmerdale is set to be released on September 29, which will look at the soap’s history, alongside long-lost imagery and behind-the-scenes details.
“Each character, event, family and location is explored in exhaustive detail, with special features on Emmerdale legends, the show’s villains, births, marriages, deaths, and celebrity cameos, bringing all the highlights together with interviews and insights from cast and crew members past and present,” the description adds.
Fans will also get to see key family trees, as well as a special map of Emmerdale and bespoke artworks of each location in the village, and the book itself has been compiled by show archivist Tom Parfitt.
Meanwhile, Emmerdale‘s executive producer Jane Hudson recently opened up to Digital Spy and other media on what fans can expect from the big anniversary.

“We’re going to be having a golden month of celebration to mark our 50th. There are going to be mind-blowing stunts, more heartbreaks, secrets and lies are revealed. It’s going to be the gift that keeps on giving and the party no one wants to end,” she said.
“We might see some old faces returning, we’re not sure yet. I think there is a lot coming up – the focus is really to celebrate Emmerdale turning 50.
“Our focus at the moment is to really build those stories so when we get to our golden month of celebration, we’ve got secrets that the viewers are desperate to be revealed.

“We’ll do something epic. There will be an epic stunt because we’re well-known for that. But at the heart of it, the best loved characters in our show are really going to be tested in some big emotional stories.
“It’s really key to us that whatever happens in the 50th, the fallout is huge. This will continue and take us into 2023.”
However, one thing fans can rule out is a live episode, with cast members confirming that it is out of the question.
50 Years of Emmerdale is available to pre-order now. Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
