Chef David Chang becomes first celebrity to win one million dollar jackpot on ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire?’ – Celebrity Tracks
Chef David Chang appeared on Who wants to be a millionaire? and went on to become the first celebrity to $1,000,000 for charity. He was playing for the southern smoke foundation which provides emergency relief funds to food and beverage workers.
The jackpot question was, “Although he and his wife never touched a light switch for fear of being shocked, who was the first president to have electricity in the White House?” The answer options provided were Ulysses S. Grant, Benjamin Harrison, Chestor A. Arthur, and Andrew Johnson.

Chang was not sure about the answer and used his lifeline, phone a friend. He called his friend Mina Kimes, NFL analyst for help. She wasn’t confident either and suggested, “It’s probably Harrison.”

After much dilemma he decided to go with her suggestion and got the answer right.
David Chang makes history,” exclaimed host Jimmy Kimmel. “The first celebrity contestant to win a million dollars for his charity on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?. You see that? Good things do happen sometimes.”
